A brief history of Enosburg VT

Early pioneers of Enosburg decided to settle on the top of a hill near the center of the town. Around 1796, settlera started moving in, building houses and roads. By 1800, the population of Enosburg had grown to 704 and in 1824, Samuel Kendall built a woolen factory along with a store, a grist mill, and two farms.

In the 1870s, Dr. B. J. Kendall, a nephew of Samuel, promoted health products for horses and spread the reputation of the community. Enosburg has always been a strong farming community and in the early part of the 20th century, many French-Canadians began moving there. The town today has many beautiful farms and once described itself as "The Dairy Center of the World."
